Raunchy Young Lepers

RYL existed from 1989 to 1991 in Tualatin, Oregon. They started out as two sixth-graders--"Dr. Pain" and "Jeff Defcon"--but soon added guitarist/bassist "28086", and, later, vocalist/bucket-and-trash-can-lid-player "b.s.". Mr. Defcon faded from the scene around the same time that "W.A.S.P." (for "Women And Sex Prevail") joined the group, playing drum-like objects, keyboards, singing, and eventually teaching himself how to play the bass and the guitar.

14 albums were made; at RYL's peak, they were grinding out an album per day. Every album was recorded on their trusty Panasonic RX-C31 boombox, although other boomboxes were occasionally used.

RYL's songs include such indisputable classics as "Grade School Sex Queen", "The Maid Got Laid (And The Butler Did It)", "Archives of Insanity", "Deranged Psychosomatic Maniac", "Wenches", "No, No, No!", "Sex Slave Auction", "Up The Up The Dead U", "Drugged-Up Hooker", "Exploitation of Women", "Skating Up Gorbachev's Ass", "They Ripped Up My Mind", "Douched-Up Bitch", "Don't Fuck With Me, Bitch", and oh my god the list goes on.

Horrible, offensive, beyond amateurish, the Raunchy Young Lepers' legacy lives on with the release of their box set, Simon and Garfunkel Shoot Up Salt Through Their Wangs, named after an ad-lib lyric from their disastrous cover of "Scarborough Fair". At $20 for something like six hours of mayhem, it is a fabulous entertainment value. It comes specially packaged in a sturdy, portable box, with a booklet featuring lots .
